What to expect when you book a lab test

From booking to report, a walkthrough of how a diagnostic test works when you arrange it through MedVek.

MedVek Team

Booking a test is straightforward, but people are often unsure what happens between placing the booking and seeing a result. Here is the sequence.

Booking

You choose the test in the app and confirm where and when the sample should be collected. If a doctor has requested specific tests, uploading their note avoids any ambiguity about what is being ordered.

Before the sample is taken

Some tests ask you not to eat beforehand and others do not. Any such instruction is shown with the booking. If you are unsure whether it applies to you, ask before the day rather than on it.

Collection and results

The booking is tracked in the app, so you can see where things stand rather than calling to check. The report arrives against the same booking, which keeps it alongside the rest of your records.

Reading the report

A report is information, not a diagnosis. Discuss the results with a doctor, who can read them in the context of your history rather than in isolation.
